Why Volunteer with Samaritan?

“I can’t begin to tell you what a blessing it was to work with the Samaritan Health Center. While my time was unexpectedly short, I learned so much whenever I was there helping with the clinic.”

Volunteer Voices

Volunteers share their experience at Samaritan Health Center and explore why this clinic is so important for our community.

Dr. Alicia Ramos, Samaritan Health Center Board member and volunteer interpreter, describes her observations from serving in the clinic. Jason Bao, a Duke undergraduate and future medical student, reflects on the type of care Samaritan Health Center provides and how it has impacted his career journey.

Samaritan Health Center could not offer excellent care to its patients were it not for our wonderful volunteers who generously give of their time and talents.

We welcome volunteers to serve as:

  • Primary care physicians

  • Specialty physicians: neurology, podiatry

  • Optometrists

  • Interpreters

  • Nurses and nursing assistants

  • Respiratory therapists

For clinicians, Samaritan Health Center offers a friendly and hassle-free environment in which to practice medicine, collaborate with colleagues, and make a difference in your community. We require Board certification (or a resident training license) and may request a letter of reference. Samaritan can offer providers federal malpractice insurance at no charge to you. We seek providers willing to commit to a monthly primary care shift, or a quarterly shift for specialists. Please contact our Medical Director to learn more.

At Samaritan, we are humbled by the number of individuals who want to volunteer. It is our desire that all who feel called to Samaritan can be a part of this ministry. Please be aware that it might take some time before we are able to place you in an onsite volunteer role. We greatly appreciate your interest and understanding.
