Meet Adela
For over a decade, Adela Conteras Alvarez has found comfort and belonging at Samaritan Health Center.
Her journey to Samaritan began when her nephew’s wife recommended the clinic, offering an affordable and closer alternative to the Carrboro clinic she had been visiting.
Adela has taken advantage of a wide range of services at Samaritan, from primary care to specialized exams like mammograms, colonoscopies, and optometry visits. Each time, she’s been met with compassionate care from doctors and staff alike. “I’ve had three primary care doctors, and they all have been very good,” Adela shares with a smile.
But what stands out most to her isn’t just the medical care. It’s the kindness and attentiveness of everyone who works there. “The people who work there are very friendly. It’s like a family,” Adela says. For Adela, Samaritan goes above and beyond what other clinics offer, not just in care but in how they welcome everyone, regardless of language barriers. “We are comfortable because they have good translators or understand Spanish,” she adds. This keeps Adela coming back year after year.
She emphasizes that the clinic is more than just a healthcare provider—it’s a place of support for those who need it most. Samaritan’s affordability and accessibility to those without insurance make it a vital resource in the community.
